5 YEARS OF MUSICDIRECTORY.CH

“There just aren’t any women!” – This excuse is still widely used in the music world. As a result, many concert stages, both front and backstage, continue to be dominated by men. But that claim is nonsense! Helvetiarockt – the Swiss coordination office and networking platform for women, intersex, non-binary, trans, and agender (FINTA*) people in contemporary music – has been challenging this narrative since 2009, making it clear: “Yes, there are – and far more than many think.” 

For the past five years, musicdirectory.ch has served as a central platform for FINTA* individuals in the Swiss music industry. Over this time, the four-language platform (German, French, Italian, English) has become an important hub and networking space for music creators – across all roles and sectors of the music industry. 

We want to celebrate the five-year anniversary and success of the platform with you at the anniversary event on October 4 at Fri-Son – alongside artists who are registered on the platform. With performances by La Nefera, Fjälla, Manic Pixxies, Eggs & Tiaras, Chacho, Subaqua, and Wildreis, the diversity and visibility of FINTA* people on stage will be celebrated. Guests from the music industry – from artists to bookers, event organizers to supporters – are invited to connect, exchange ideas, and stand together for greater inclusion in the music scene. 

The public event is open to all genders and, in addition to the concert program, offers space for networking, conversation, and registering on the platform.
