Irish Festival Fribourg/Freiburg
The association Irish Festival Fribourg/Freiburg runs a new festival of the same name which is taking place on October 6, 7 and 8, 2023. Irish writers and musicians are travelling from Ireland to take part in the festival. With the support of the Agglomération de Fribourg, Etat de Fribourg, Irish Embassy Berne, Tourism Ireland, Fribourg Tourism, Irish Film Institute International, the Swiss Centre of Irish Studies & Max-Geilinger Stiftung. Guest authors: John Boyne, Anne Griffin, Sarah Moore Fitzgerald, Nuala O'Connor and Padraig Rooney. Irish-Swiss author Clare O'Dea is the festival director.
Also on the programme in October: an Irish dance performance, whiskey tasting event, public lectures, a creative writing workshop, Irish films and documentaries and an exhibition of photos of Ireland at the Cinema Rex, a traditional Irish music session in the Banshees Lodge. Irish music concerts in La Spirale and the chapel of Hôpital des Bourgeois. Our partner restaurants will be serving Irish dishes throughout the festival weekend.
The festival welcome hub is located in the foyer of Equilibre Theatre. We'll have lots of information about Ireland, the festival, a competition and some Irish treats to give away. Drop in and say hello:
