To set off for the mountains, to hole up in a chalet, an isolated and sheltered place. To free the monsters held back by societal restraints and to soothe the inner ravages they generate. To understand them, fight them, attempt to coexist with them.
To let oneself be overwhelmed by the snow that erases details and offers a blank page on which to lay down these incandescent feelings.
To be tossed about by furious winds which, by sweeping away the white mantle, bring emotional frosts back to the surface in a nauseating maelstrom. But to walk, to keep walking.
To rediscover, in a sudden moment of calm, the immensity of the landscape and, through it, one’s own insignificance and necessity within a greater whole.
To draw inspiration from bark in order to face the returning spring.
With Dezalp, One Owl Soul (Olivier Verleye) musically tells this story, born from a month and a half of solitary retreat in a mountain chalet. In collaboration with Jocelyn Raphanël (sonographer and sound designer) and Nicolas Berger (visual artist), this performance will be presented in the immersive space MIAM.
